We implement C-14 monitoring of exhaust in such a way as to measure mono-ethanolamine which is a collector of 
CO
with a liquid scintillation counter. Since Aquasol-2, which we have used so far was finished selling, we have done technical examinations on Insta-Gel plus and Ultima Gold for the alternative cocktail of Aquasol-2. In the result, as for the both cocktails, we confirmed that mono-ethanolamine can merge into the cocktails with some chemical additive, and detection limits of C-14 can comply the law limit of C-14 concentration of exhaust. However, chemical luminescence of Ultima Gold was so intense that it might affect the measurement in the case of measuring H-3 at the same time. Because of this, we chose Insta-Gel plus as the alternative cocktail.

Okayama prefecture is the birthplace of the peaceful use of nuclear power in Japan, because the uranium deposit was discovered at Ningyo-toge, Okayama for the first time in Japan. At Ningyo-toge, there are facilities related to the uranium enrichment, which contributed to the acquisition of the international status as a uranium-enrichment country. Of countries unpossessing nuclear weapons, Japan is a sole country that was authorized to implement the uranium enrichment. In this context, Okayama and Ningyo-toge are meaningful areas as the international symbol of the peaceful use of nuclear power. This presentation will describe the history and current status of Ningyo-toge Environmental Engineering Center.

Although the clearance of uranium was institutionalized for metals, its implementation has been actually limited only to metals with simple shapes because of problems of the measurement. The present study proposes an evaluation method in ray measurements for the clearance of various decommissioning materials in forms. The proposed method was based on the analysis technique, called "equivalent model" focusing on rays scattered by the Compton effect, developed in Ningyo-toge Environmental Engineering Center. This model was applied to the analysis of test results of simulated drums measured using a commercially-available -ray measurement system. The analysis result indicated the validity of this application for the clearance level of 1Bq/g (total uranium). The presentation will describe the concept of a new evaluation method including an improvement of the measurement system.
